Wait…What Are You Doing Now?

I’ve been getting this question a lot lately—
“What’s this hospitality thing?”
“I thought you were a math teacher now?”
“Did you quit again?”
“Are you changing careers again?”
Fair enough. It does look a little confusing from the outside.
So here’s the truth.
Yes, I’m still teaching. In fact, I love it.
It’s the first job I’ve ever had where I don’t hate waking up in the morning.
The kids (sorry—children) drive me nuts sometimes, but I found something I’m good at that actually feels like it matters. I didn’t stumble into this—I fought to get here. And I’m staying.
But teaching also brought something else back to life—my love for cooking.
See, for years I had to cook to survive. I ran restaurants, catered events, and pushed myself to the limit to make a living. Now, I don’t have to do that hustle anymore. But I still love food. I still love creating experiences around the table. So now, I do it on my terms.
Meerbott Hospitality isn’t a career shift. It’s a passion project.
It’s dinner parties in people’s homes. Custom menus. Food made with love, not pressure.
It’s my way of spreading joy through flavor and connection.
So no, I didn’t quit teaching. I didn’t run away.
I’m finally doing both of the things I love—on my own terms.
Teaching by day.
Feeding souls by night.
And for the first time in a long time… I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be.
